Its Been A Week Now

I really dont know what we were thinking when we decided to drive to North Carolina. Jon got a job(hes a truck driver) going to North Carolina(he usually goes to lame places like Detroit) so we thought it would be a great(bad) idea id we(me and Aurora) went down there with him. We drove 9 hours there(Aurora wasnt that bad). It was a long drive and we were happy to finally be there. We got to the hotel and Aurora fell asleep pretty much right away....

30 minutes later....

she wakes up and....screams....and screams....and screams. for 4 hours. So we decided to pack up and drive home.

We had a entire day planned out.
Discovery Place- CANCELED
Tour of downtown Charlotte-CANCELED
Walking around town and sight seeing-CANCELED
Family time-NOW WE HAVE TO SPEND IT IN A TRUCK

Aurora has been sick for a week now. Ya know, just normal stuff. Runny nose, doesnt wanna eat, cant sleep. I thought she just had a cold but when we had to durn around and drive 9 hours back home I decided enough was enough and she needed to go the doctors.

Fastforward to this morning, we went to the doctors to discover that she has a double ear infection. I think I also left out that for the past 3 days Jon has been telling me that there is something else wrong with her besides a little cold and i kept telling him that he is just crazy. How did I not see this? Im the mom! Im the one who is always with him! Im kind of upset that I didnt know that it was something else and he did.

Anyway, she is now in bed. sleeping. and will be better in 10 days!

Is It Just Me?

I often feel like its just me....that im the only one who gets it....that everyone else is just out to get me.....until I go to my friends house.

Today we went to a cookout at one of my closest friends house. Shes 11 days older than me(and still points that out....just wait til we turn 30 then I will be the one pointing that out!). We grew up together. Our mothers were friends. Her mother babysat me as a child. Her home was my home.

As people get older then tend to drift apart. We haven't seen each other in 6 months and she was having a cookout at her new house and invited us over. I was so excited. I wanted her to see how smart and beautiful Aurora is and I wanted to see how much Justin(her son) had grown since I last saw him. Plus, her boyfriend just got custody of his daughter Emily and I was so excited to meet her. This morning I packed up a few bags of clothes for Emily(that don't fit Aurora anymore) and a box of toys(that Aurora has no interest in) and I was completely stoked to visit with them.

We arrived at their house. They were completely charming. Thanking me left and right for bringing so much stuff. Saying how beautiful Aurora is and how she looks just like me(I don't see it). It was great! Her mom was there, who I haven't seen in a little over a year.. She told me how proud she was of me, and that is always nice to hear!

And then it happened....I walked into their house....and it was....SPOTLESS!

Not a toy in sight, not ONE SINGLE TOY IN SIGHT!

I know what your thinking. So what? Who cares? Whats the big deal?

I hate the fact that I have a apartment(not a house like my friend) full of Auroras toys. My apartment(not a house like my friend) is always a mess. No matter how hard I try to clean it up I feel like its always a mess, its always full of clutter and i am always behind on my to do list! Her house(unlike my apartment) had no dust, not one single dish in the sink, and a carpet that had zero stains on it.

I was so curious that I asked for a tour(thinking they all the toys and clutter were hiding in her sons room). And of course, no clutter, no mess, NOTHING! He had toys....IN BINS!

I obviously started putting myself down. How could her house be so clean? How could it always look like this? She works and has 2 kids to take care of. I stay home and only have one kid to care for. Am I doing something wrong?

As soon as we got home I ran to my computer and started looking at her pictures on facebook. And what do you think I saw? Clutter? Dust? Toys everywhere? NOPE! Even in her facebook pictures her house is clean. That's when I knew that she didn't just go on a cleaning rampage because she invited us over.

Let me give you a overview of my apartment(not house like my friend) my kitchen has dishes in the sink, you can barley see my kitchen table, our bedroom looks like a tornado hit it, you will step on toys if you walk in the hallway with the lights off and I have dust everywhere! Is there something wrong with me? Am I just doing this whole mommy thing wrong? I cant even keep a house clean let alone keep a house clean AND have 2 kids AND have a job. Bummer! What a disappointing day!

I Suggest Buying A House First

Last night at 4 a.m. I was woken up but some really loud music. 4 a m people! 4 am! I can understand 1 am(kinda) but 4 a m. Dont these people sleep?

For those of you that don't know I live in a apartment. I wasn't mad about the music at first, until it woke up Aurora. I pounded on the wall for them to turn it down and they didn't. I don't know if they didn't hear me or if they just didn't care.

Jon told me to just put Aurora back to sleep and forget about it. How do you expect me to forget that some inconsiderate person woke up my daughter?

I went out into the living room and googled the non emergencey number for the police department. Lets just say that 15 minutes later his music was off!

Before haveing children I really suggest buying a house first, because hes lucky I didnt go over there and turn it off myself! Im usually not a confentation person....unless it comes to Aurora.

BUT this might of all worked out for the better because she didn't wake back up until 8 am! WAHOOO!!! Shes usually getting us up at 6!

Another [DISGUSTING] Day In Mommyland

We were going on with our daily routine. Roar was eating lunch. I was cleaning the kitchen and we were rolling on. Lunch time came to a screeching halt when a horrible...and i mean horrible odor came from Aurora.

I lifted her up to see that not only had she winnied (that's what we call pooping around here. Get it? Pooped, Pooh....Winnie the Pooh! It just sounds so much nicer) but she had winnied out of her diaper, onto the highchair and it was going up her back. (im sorry if you are eating while reading this)

ok so blah blah blah I cleaned it up and gave Roar a bath. I took her out of the bath, wrapped her in a towel and what do you know....right then Aurora decided to let the pee flow. Right. Down. My. Leg!

So to say the least it has been a disgusting day in mommy land.

But in true Aurora fashion she smoothed things over by being overly cute. Rolling around on the floor with me giving kisses, cuddling with her cow(she has a thing for stuffed animals) and following me around like a little duckling. Except this ducking doesn't quack, she says Mama as she waddles behind me!

And that is a picture of Aurora after her bath trying to brush her hair.

Before You Have Kids

I wish someone would of given me a list of things to do before I decided to have kids. Ive written a list of things that I think everyone should do before a screaming baby enters your life:

1. The most important, enjoy sleeping. I would love to sleep past 630 in the morning and get a nap in. Im not going to lie, once of twice a week i squeeze in a nap(that is all of 20 minutes long)

2.Get your house organized. Throw away or donate(or hey have a garage sale) everything you dont use.

3. Get caught up on laundry. Aurora has at least doubled the amount of laundry I do and shes only 10 months old.

4. Stay out late. Release your inner party animal. This will be your last chance(unless your ok with leaving your child every weekend) to go out late and sleep in.

5. Treat yourself to a spa day. Enjoy the day relaxing(I suggest doing this near the end of your pregnancy)

6. Go out to eat at a fancy restaurant. Stay there for hours, order every course and just enjoy yourself.

7.Take a long shower. My showers now consist of quick 5-10 minute showers while Aurora is napping.

8. Spend a lot of time with friends(especially the ones who don't have kids) it will be hard to squeeze them into your busy schedule.

9.Go shopping!!! Every time I have extra money its always getting spent on Aurora. Over the weekend we went out so I could pick up a few things for the fall season. All I got was a pair of pants(that I have to return) and a pair of boots. Aurora got 4 shirts, two pants, a pair a shoes and a new toy. Buy yourself something nice!

10.Don't stress. Don't worry that your house is not spotless(but I do suggest getting caught up on laundry).
